Welcome back!  We are looking forward to a great year this year with lots to learn throughout our Reading and Writing lessons.  This half term we will be developing our writing by focusing on the following text styles:-

  • Non - Chronological Report
  • Instructions
  • Newspaper Recount



Welcome back! We are looking forward to further improving our Maths skills this year during our Maths lessons.  This term we will be learning the following in our Maths lessons:-

Place value - Counting in hundreds

Addition and Subtraction - Beginning to use hundreds

Multiplication and Division - using known tables to solve calculations.



Maths Group:-

We have been exploring place value looking at partitioning numbers in hundreds and thousands.  See the photos below.


English Group:-

We have been developing our research skills to find facts about the Romans to include our Non Chronological Reports.  See the photos below.




In Maths, we have been playing some games to learn place value for HTU.

Non-Chronological Reports

We have finished our Non Chronological Reports about the Romans.  The children are beginning to write in paragraphs and are beginning to use subordinate clauses in their writing.  See their reports below:-



Maths Group:

We have moved on to addition this month and the children are working upon using the column addition method to add 3 digit numbers.

English Group:

We have focused upon writing instructions and learned to play the Roman games of Knuckles and Rota(see the photos below).  The children then wrote these instructions for others to be able to play the games.
