Moving Forward, Aiming High!

PE

At Newhall Community Junior School, children are taught using the Get Set 4 P.E scheme of work using progressive lesson plans. Children are taught a range of sporting endeavours throughout the year so that they can apply and develop a broader range of skills, learning how to use them in different ways and to link them to make actions and sequences of movement. Lessons will focus on engagement and fun, so that children enjoy communicating, collaborating and competing with each other. Children are encouraged to reflect upon their own continuing development and should develop an understanding of how to improve in different physical activities and sports, as well as learning how to evaluate and recognise their own success.

Year 5 children attend swimming sessions once a week with 30 x 30 minute sessions throughout the school the year.

We are also part of the South Derbyshire Active School Partnership (SDASP). Through this partnership, we enter as many sporting competitions as possible throughout the academic year to allow the children to experience participation in competitive sport.
