Maths homework at NCJS follows a spaced-learning approach. This means that pupils are questioned on their current learning and previous learning, both from their current year group and previous year groups. This process allows for an improvement in recall and retention and allows for staff to further identify misconceptions in learning. From Autumn Two 2020, homework will move remotely to Microsoft Teams. The same process will be followed but will take the form of a Microsoft Quiz.
Research into cognitive learning shows that if learning is spaced out and reviewed on a regular basis over a period of time then pupils actually learn more and learn it quicker than if spaced learning doesn't take place.
