'The Power Of Music
Music is all around us. It is the soundtrack to our lives. Music connects us through people and places in our ever-changing world. It is creative, collaborative, celebratory and challenging. In our schools, music can bring communities together through the shared endeavour of whole-school singing, ensemble playing, experimenting with the creative process and, through the love of listening to friends and fellow pupils, performing. The sheer joy of music making can feed the soul of a school community, enriching each student while strengthening the shared bonds of support and trust which make a great school.' MMC 2021
Year 3
We have been lucky enough to work with the Derbyshire Music Partnership. Singing teachers have come into school and worked with our teachers and pupils on the Derbyshire Songbook. They have developed singing skills to perform in unison, in tune and in time with the music; extending their vocal range to an octave! Pupils have experimented with percussion instruments and developed the sense of pulse through various activities. Feedback was really positive from all our Year 3 children and they did a fabulous performance together which we all enjoyed.
We are looking forward to working with the Derbyshire Music Partnership again in January 2022.
Warm up your voices Year 3; this time we will be doing the Sing4Life project!
Year 4
This year our Year 4 classes will be doing whole-class instrumental lessons. We are looking forward to hearing some samba band performances later this term.
Year 5 and 6
Some of our children have chosen to learn how to play an instrument this year. Research shows there are many benefits to playing an instrument, both academic and social. We are very proud of the Year 5 and 6 children who have decided to take on this challenge.
